the computer is only a 2 year old Compaq Presario and even booting up is very slow, even tho I only have a few things starting up. I am ready to trash the computer, but cannot afford a new one. Even when I try to load yahoo after it is finally booted up it takes approximately 5 minutes. I have run CrapCleaner, AdAware, Norton Antivirus and Spysweeper, disc clean up and defrag to no avail.

Where did you say I can get this mach?
Norton might be your problem, uninstall it and install AVG by grisoft
how full is your hard drive? The fuller it gets the slower it will go.
If you're willing to try it, wipe the system and reinstall. Windows can get bogged down by app installs and such, and sometimes you just have to start over.

What are the hardware specs for your machine?

You may just need to uninstall some software.
