My PC got an adware, they said i need to reformat my PC. is that the best solution?

i got doomed since i cant search properly on the net, when i search something, it leads me to other stupid search engines and even porn sites. My friends said that i need to reformat my PC. help plz? is reformatting really the best solution or i can download anti-virus? if then, what antivirus or how can i reformat my pc? even on yahoo messenger my account autosends porn site adresses. Help me pls. need to do my researches for my projects!! ;(

This should cure your problem:

1 make sure all copies of internet explorer are closed

2 go to start

3 select internet properties

4 under the "general" tab go down to "browsing history"

click "delete"

5 click "delete files"

6 click "delete cookies"

7 restart internet explorer

You should have control of your browser again.

Don't tell me you have no protection programmes on your computer! Start by doing an on-line scan from one of the below sites before you do anything else, because you may have junque on your pc that turns anti-virus programmes off!
